
KIRTLAND
In Kirtland, Ohio, the early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints built the first temple of this dispensation, which was dedicated in 1836 by the prophet Joseph Smith. It became a place of revelations and significant events such as the vision of the celestial kingdom and the restoration of the priesthood keys under the hands of Moses, Elias, and Elijah the prophet, preparing the way for the temple work and the continuation of the fulness of the gospel.


THE WHITNEY STORE
The historic building known as the Whitney Store in Kirtland, Ohio, served as the first store of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was an important gathering place for the early members.


THE SCHOOL OF THE PROFETS
The School of the Prophets established by Joseph Smith in the Kirtland Temple, served as a center of instruction and preparation for the early leaders and missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.


KIRTLAND TEMPLE
The Kirtland Temple, dedicated in 1836, was the first temple built in this dispensation by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was the setting for many revelations and sacred events under the leadership of the prophet Joseph Smith. In this temple, keys of the priesthood were received from heavenly messengers, elders of the Church were ordained to various offices of the priesthood, and transcendent spiritual experiences such as the vision of the celestial degree and the coming of Jesus Christ in a glorious cloud were witnessed, paving the way for the fulness of the restored Gospel.


THE MARTINN HARRIS FARM
The Martin Harris farm was a historic place where some of the early translations of the Book of Mormon took place, as Harris acted as one of Joseph Smith's scribes and also mortgaged his farm to fund the initial publication of the book.
